The Democratic Party is the party of Social Security, Medicare, minimum wage laws, unemployment insurance, environmental protection, civil rights, public education, and equal pay for equal work for women. The Democratic Party has been, and still is, the party of the middle class. So how is it that Scot McKenzie believes the Democratic Party would ever work against the interest of the citizens of northeast Michigan? I was stunned that in his interview in the Alpena News, McKenzie repeatedly said that if elected, he would have no problem voting against the Democratic Party. But not once did McKenzie talk about Republicans being the cause of the decline of the middle class in Michigan. I am a Democrat because I believe the Democratic Party best represents the interests of the middle class, and thus, northeast Michigan. If McKenzie doesn't feel the same, maybe he shouldn't run as a Democrat.
