Anna Mary Losinski, 95, of Alpena died Monday, July 21, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Anna was born on July 12, 1919, to the late Andrew and Cora (Tadajewski) Smigelski and was raised on a farm near Bolton. On Sept. 19, 1936, she married John Losinski in Alpena. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1997.
Anna worked hard all of her life. She took such excellent care of her four children, while also gardening and working around the farm. There was nothing that she wouldn't do, no job that was too difficult. Anna loved to cook and have company. She cooked wonderful Sunday meals for her family. She always was baking and cooking, making homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, crepes, Polish dishes, and delicious roasts. Food on the table at the farm is a wonderful memory. The aromas as you walked through the door were always so welcoming.
Anna loved to play games. She enjoyed dominoes and various card games. Until very recently, she loved to play rummy with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She showed us love in so many ways that will never be forgotten.
Anna loved God above everything. She loved to pray and say the Rosary. Later in life, even when routine activities were not as easy or familiar anymore, she was always at home in prayer or at Mass. She prayed for all of her family and friends daily, and was always grateful to God for all of the blessings in her life.
She was an active and dedicated member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Rosary Society Group #14, and Daughters of Isabella. Mrs. Losinski served on the election board for many years in Long Rapids Township.
Surviving are her children, John (Marina) Losinski of Warren, Thomas (Ann) Losinski of Alpena, Julie (John) Kowalski of Alpena; daughter-in-law, Ann Losinski of Rogers City; 15 grandchildren, Gerri (Mark) Burye, Anna (Joseph) St. Pierre, Gwen (Bill) Stypick, Sharon (Dennis) Meredith, Greg Losinski, Deann (Keith) Kujawski, Jason (Kari) Losinski, Jan (Steve) Gardner, Lynsey Guzik, Lane (Amy) Losinski, Amy (Kevin) Doyle, Maria (Andy Lindahl) Kowalski, Jeff Kowalski, Matthew Kowalski, Andrew (Kristen) Kowalski; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Helen Kowalski, Charlotte Tulgetske; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Losinski was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence; grandson, Ben Losinski; two sisters, Florence Donajkowski, Evangeline Yarch Evans; and four brothers, Tony, Stanley, Joe and Chester Smigelski.
Visitation will be at the Bannan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. with the rosary recited at 3 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev.
