Marilyn Martin Burns Male, 79, of 815 Wall Street, Alpena, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
Marilyn was born May 12, 1935, in Alpena at home on Mac Avenue to Richard and Kathleen (Coy) Martin. On Nov. 4, 1988, she married Gerald I. Male. Marilyn played in a country band at local establishments and weddings for 30 years, played mandolin at WATZ radio station in 1950, called the Old Corral, loved to garden and grow flowers. She also enjoyed playing cards, bird watching, and collecting buttons.
Mrs. Male was a member of the Alpena Handicapped Club for 25 years and an officer from time to time. When she was able, Marilyn attended the Salvation Army Church.
She loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, not only to her own, but to many who called her Ma or Grandma. She will be sadly missed by all. Surviving are her husband, Gerald; two daughters, Kathleen Elaine (Randy) Roznowski, Barbara Jean (Randy) Peplinski; one son, Kevin Richard Burns all of Alpena; four stepchildren, Sue Morgan of Texas, Cherie Peck of Texas, Lisa Weshler of Texas, Gerald Male Jr. of North Carolina; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one sister, Carol Livermore; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Yvonne and Gary DeRosia.
Preceding her in death were a son, Randy Burns; her parents, Fritz Martin and Kathleen Burkett; step parents, Luzerne Burkett and Gertrude Martin; two grandchildren, Tracy Wayne Peplinski and Richard Alan Roznowski; and one brother, John Martin.
Mrs. Male is at the Bannan Funeral Home where visitation will be on Sunday, July 20, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m., Major Craig Stoker officiating.
