Several Alpena High girls soccer players earned all-Big North Conference honors for the 2014 season.
Seniors Megan Martin and Tatiana Burcar were both named to the second team. Carley Hoeksema, Lexi Rushing and Morgan Allen each earned an honorable mention.
Alpena finished fifth in the Big North with a 2-10 record and was 4-14-2 overall.
Martin and Burcar were looked to for leadership on a team that had equal amounts experience and youth. Burcar scored five goals on the year and Martin was one of Alpena's leaders on defense.
Allen, a sophomore, led the Wildcats in goals with six and established herself as a cornerstone in the lineup along with Rushing up front. Hoeksema was a mainstay in net for two seasons for the Wildcats and played well despite Alpena's struggles on offense. She recorded a shutout during the Sunrise Side Soccer Challenge Cup.
