Kenneth Gordon Meggert, 78, of Ossineke, died Sunday, May 4, 2014. He was born April 4, 1936, in Detroit to Erich and Frieda (Schultz) Meggert. Ken loved the outdoors and while he enjoyed hunting, his true passion involved a fishing pole in his hand. His passion and knowledge for fishing eventually led to his owning and operating a fishing marina. Ken also enjoyed his crossword puzzles and playing cards, but his love for his family and especially his grandchildren came before all else. Ken is survived by four children, Jodie (Brian) Salem of Denver, Colo., Shari Meggert of Ann Arbor, Vicki (Roland) Kottong of Alpena, Mark (Jeanette) Meggert of Fowlerville, Mich.; three siblings, Sanford Meggert of Bradenton, Fla., Sandra Meggert of Seattle, Wash., Edward Meggert of Fairbanks, Alaska; five grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Anna, Emme, and Jack. He is preceded by both parents. A memorial service for Ken will be held Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home Alpena with Pastor James Erickson officiating.
