LINCOLN- The Posen softball team continued its North Star League winning streak by sweeping Alcona in 11-0 and 13-0 mercies on Monday.
Posen's (8-2, 6-0 North Star League) pitcher Ashley Meyers threw a no-hitter and struck out 13 in the first game. She gave up no walks.
Kayla Lenard led at the plate with a two RBI single in the first inning. Meyers had an RBI double while Taylor Chojnacki had a two-RBI single. Monica Bartz and Akari Takesato both singled.
Kendra Cole pitched five innings for the loss. She gave up four hits, two earned runs, walked seven and struck out five.
Meyers pitched the first three innings of the second game, giving up only one hit and striking out two. Chojnacki finished the game, allowing no hits, walking four and striking out two.
Posen had three hits in the second game, picking up most of its scoring opportuities on Alcona errors or passed balls.
Meyers had a two RBI double while Amy Buczkowski had a bunt single. Lenard also singled.
Alissa Terpstra pitched 3 2/3 innings for the loss. She gave up one hit, four earned runs, walked 12 and struck out nine.
Terpstra picked up Alcona's sole hit of the game.
Posen hosts Rogers City on Thursday and will make up the game on Friday if it rains.
Rogers City 42-19, Hale 1-2
ROGERS CITY- The Rogers City softball team heavily routed Hale 42-1 and 19-2 in a home doubleheader on Monday.
Rogers City's (10-1) Nikki Radke pitched for the win.
The Hurons had 40 hits total. Morgan Hall had three hits, including a home run. Autumn Idalski had six hits, including a double and a home run. Kayla Fleury had three hits, including a double and a home run as did Cassie Brege.
Rachel Chojnacki had six hits and a double. Alexa Quaine had five hits while Logan Fleming and Courtney Streich had four. Sarah Meredith, Holly Dittmar and Cassidy Purgiel had two hits each.
Alexa Quaine pitched for the win in the second game.
Fleming led at the bat with two doubles. Idalski and Fleury had two hits each. Chojnacki, Radke, Dittmar and Purgiel each had one hit.
Rogers City travels to Posen on Thursday while Hale hosts Hillman.
Central Lake 14-8,
CENTRAL LAKE- The Onaway softball team was swept 14-4 and 8-4 by Ski Valley Conference rival Central Lake on Monday.
Onaway (0-7, 0-3 Ski Valley) was led by Lexi Szymoniak went 2-for-3 with two doubles in the first game. Morgan Badgero was 1-for-3 with a double. Ashley LaLonde went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Olivia McDonald went 1-for-3 while Lindsay LaLonde went 1-for-1.
Onaway's Skyler Butler pitched for the loss.
Badgero led at at the bat, going 3-for-3 with a double and two runs. Szymoniak went 1-for-3, scoring a run while Ashley LaLonde went 2-for-3 with a run. Lindsay LaLonde was 1-for-3.
Onaway travels to Johannesburg-Lewiston on Thursday.
Alpena wins two at Lake Orion Tourney
LAKE ORION-The Alpena High baseball team won two games over the weekend at a tournament in Lake Orion.
Alpena won its first game over Warren Woods-Tower 6-3. The Wildcats had five hits and Chris Modrzynski was the winning pitcher.
Giulio Fantasia and Brad Styma had two RBIs each.
Alpena (7-1) won its second game over Walled Lake Central 14-8. The Wildcats had 13 hits in the game and Andy Marwede was the winning pitcher. Tim Atkinson pitched the first 2 1/3 innings and Marwede came on in relief to earn the win.
Atkinson, Fantasia and Tyler Pintar each had two hits, Brady Marwede had three hits and Styma had a two-run home run.
Alpena hosts Ogemaw today starting at 4 p.m.
Rogers City 10-6, Hale 0-4
ROGERS CITY- The Rogers City (4-2, 4-2 North Star League) baseball team swept Hale 10-0 and 6-4 on Monday.
The Hurons took a quick lead, getting four runs in the first inning and two each in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
Quintin Kelly pitched all five innings for the Hurons, giving up one hit and striking out seven.
Jacob Malocha went 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Brandon Darling was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Kelly was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Casey Szatkowski went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Hale's (1-10, 0-5 NSL) Kaydon Reimer pitched five innings for the loss. He gave up six hits, five earned runs, seven walks and four strikeouts. Reimer hit Hale's sole hit.
Rogers City took a three run lead in the bottom of the second inning of the nightcap and fought off a end game Hale rally for the win.
Justin Saile started and went 3 2/3 allowing four runs on three hits. Kelly came on in relief to get the win. He gave up three hits and struck out five.
Kelly was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Blake Fessler was 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Darling, Colton Fessler and Andrew Radke each had an RBI single.
Hale's Kelby Chrivia pitched five innings for the loss. He gave up six hits, three runs, one walk and struck out seven.
Chrivia led at the bat with a double and a single with one RBI. Reimer had a double, a single and two RBIs. Hunter Boylen and Jamie Balbaugh both contributed a hit.
Rogers City is 4-2 overall 4-2 NSL and plays at Posen on Thursday.
Hillman 3-5, Tawas 4-0
HILLMAN The Hillman baseball team split a pair with Tawas on Monday, losing 4-3 in the first game and winning 5-0 in the second.
Dylan Ross pitched five innings and 1/3 for the loss. He gave up four runs on four hits, gave up six walks and struck out five.
Dylan Steinke went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Mason VanPamel pitched a four-hit shut out for Hillman in the second game. He walked two and struck out two.
Ross went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Kyle Hennigan went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Ty Jones went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Hillman travels to Hale on Thursday.
