Get facts right about driving school, testing

March 20, 2014
The Alpena News

This letter is in response to Mr. Oke's letter regarding the driving school. First of all, my driving school (Alpena Driving School) is not employed by Alpena High School. Secondly, students take their driving test by a third party tester, who has never been in the vehicle with them. Alpena Driving School is not affiliated with the third party testing center. Students must meet requirements of the State to complete Drivers Ed through my company to receive a level one license (driver's permit). After driving on the permit for an extended amount of time, they take a road test, for $50, through the third party tester to qualify for their license. It is the job of this third party tester to determine if the student is ready and qualified for a license. There are many reasons students can fail this test. We always go above and beyond preparing students for the test. Again, Alpena Driving School is not affiliated with the third party tester. Please know your facts before making rash statements.
