LINCOLN-The Alcona girls basketball team overcame a slow start against Tawas and beat the Braves 73-49 to take a spot in a Class C district final on Friday at 7 p.m. against Houghton Lake.
"We know that Tawas always brings something new to the game. We thought we had an idea, but they brought something different like they always do," Alcona coach Brad Cole said.
The first quarter was fairly tight between the two teams. Alcona (18-3) scored more buckets than Tawas, but the Braves hit two treys to help hold the game to an 11-10 Tigers' lead.
