I am wintering in South Carolina this year. We spent some time visiting relatives in a small town. I came across an interesting phenomena, and realized it also happens in Alpena. I was reading the local classifieds and my wife and I decided to go to a storage auction (like the ones on TV). I posted our plans on Facebook, and several of our relatives commented that they would like to also go, and that they have never been to one. Then it dawned on me. I think we are all guilty of not appreciating our own local activities or attractions. We do visit the Besser, and NOAA, and other things, but I feel a lot of us don't take the time to read the local newspaper and find other activities that have been around us for years. When I get home. I am going to subscribe to the Alpena News, just so I won't be so prone to missing things.
