AU GRES-Travis Sharpe and Leon Beccard each recorded a double-double and the Posen boys basketball team defeated Au Gres on Thursday 61-43.
Posen (8-1) got off to a fast start and led 23-17 after one quarter and 39-28 at halftime.
"We started the game off hot in the first quarter, but then the game really slowed down and defensively we shut them down," Posen coach Matt Ponik said. "It was a physical game, but we played tough man-to-man defense."
Nick Hincka led Posen with 18 points and Sharpe and Beccard scored 14 and 10 points respectively to go along with double digits in rebounds.
Posen hosts Hillman on Monday.
FAIRVIEW-The Fairview boys basketball team fell to 0-6 after losing to Atlanta 56-40 on Thursday.
Fairview trailed 9-8 after one quarter and 19-13 at halftime, but ultimately couldn't keep up down the stretch.
"We couldn't get any shots to fall and our defense broke down starting in the fourth quarter. I don't know if we got tired or just lost focus," Fairview coach Rick Ebert said.
Jacob Chambers led Atlanta with 17 points and Austin Handrich led Fairview with 19 points.
Atlanta led 38-26 after three quarters.
Fairview plays at Vanderbilt today.
TAWAS-The Tawas girls basketball team got back in the win column on Thursday, topping Pinconning 65-31 at home.
Jenna Szotstak head 14 points for Tawas, Belle Flory added 15 points and Courtney Flory chipped in with 14 points.
Tawas jumped out to a 19-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back. The Braves led 38-15 at halftime and 56-23 after three quarters.
