Reverse glass painting class at Alcona County Library

January 1, 2014

HARRISVILLE -Armando Calles of Oscoda will teach reverse glass painting techniques to crafts students at Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library on Monday.

Carol Luck, director at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library, said Calles has been one of the more popular crafts instructors.

"He has done other programs for us, usually something unique," she said.

One example was an old glass window on display at the library. On one side, Calles used acrylic paints and brushes to recreate a French poster, after setting the glass over a reproduction of the original print. On the finished side of the window, the painting looked as if it was done in enamels.

Luck said no artistic skill is necessary, because Calles will provide other patterns that students can use. He will also supply all the other materials, including paint and glass.

To reserve a place, call 724-6796. Cost is $5 and the class runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
