TRAVERSE CITY-The Alpena hockey team's winning streak continued on Saturday when they beat Traverse City West 2-1.
Alpena (4-5-1) got goals from Reed Hamp and Cade MacArthur while Zach Kendziorski and Karsten Alexander assisted.
Goalie Jesse Boilore played a full game, picking up 32 assists.
Alpena hosts the Blue Line Tournament this Friday and Saturday. It faces Anchor Bay on Friday.
Rogers City 10th place in Marquette
MARQUETTE-The Rogers City wrestling team faced a tough crew of challengers on Saturday in the Marquette Wrestling Challenge. Its 70-point score was good enough to earn 10th place out of 19 team.
New Lothrop won the tournament, followed by Merrill, Wisconsin. The rest of the finishers were, in order of placement: Grandville; Gaylord; Mason; Gladstone; Sparta; Pine River; Escanaba; Rogers City; Roscommon; Iron Mountain; Comstock Park; Marquette; St. Ignace; Gwinn; Ispheming-West Wood; Negaunee; and Menominee.
Jacob Sobeck (140) won his second challenge in three years by pinning a highly ranked wrestler in the final rounds.
Andrew Selke (215) placed third with a 2-1 finish while Cameron Urban (135) got fifth place with a 4-1 record.
Jared LaFleche (171) scored with a 2-2 finish. Justin Saile (125), Jack Ryan (152) and Austin Bober (160) also put up points for Rogers City with 1-2 records.
Rogers City hosts the annual Bill Barrett Memorial Duals on Saturday.
