ROGERS CITY-The surging Onaway boys basketball team routed the Rogers City Hurons 79-26 on Friday night.
Onaway (3-1) started quick in the first by taking a 23-7 lead and stretched its lead to 46-17 by the end of the first half.
The Cardinals held the Hurons (0-4) to two points in the third quarter while piling on 23 more to take a 69-19 lead. It was the second time in two games that Onaway held its opponents to two or less points in the third.
Joe O'Bradovich led the Cardinals with 23 points and eight rebounds. Carlos Bautista picked up a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Andrew Prow had 18 points and went six-for-10 at the line. Joe Sigsby picked up four points, seven assists and five steals.
Chris Lopez led the Hurons with nine points.
Onaway has the rest of the year off before traveling to Central Lake on January 7th.
Inland Lakes 33
INDIAN RIVER-The Onaway girls baskeball team came together in its Friday game against Inland Lakes and won 58-33.
Onaway (2-3, 1-20 Ski Valley) lead 6-2 after the first quarter and pulled ahead 24-11 by the half.
"We were a little bit tentative in the first half and we played like we shouldn't have. However, we really came together in the second half," Mix said.
The Cardinals pulled ahead to a 42-33 lead in the third quarter before finishing up 58-33.
Devin Bristley picked up a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jade Galer also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 steals. Erika Price picked up 12 points of her own.
Allison Furst of Inland Lakes had 11 points.
"It's a great way to move out of 2013 and into the next year, with a big 'W'," Mix said.
Onaway has the rest of the year off before traveling to Rogers City on the January 6th..
