Retired cemetery sexton leaves big shoes to fill

December 20, 2013
The Alpena News

I am writing this to express my heart-felt gratitude to Dan Morrison, newly retired sexton of Evergreen Cemetery. Your years of service to the City of Alpena and Evergreen Cemetery are greatly appreciated by all who have been to the cemetery in the last 20 or so years of your service. You have taken great pride and ownership in your job as sexton. You always made sure the veteran markers were placed, graves were dug, lawn was mowed, trees were trimmed, and the water system was turned on. These were done in a timely and professional manner. I have truly enjoyed working with you for many of these years. You have left big shoes to fill. Dan, enjoy your retirement and on behalf of all the families you have served over the years with little or no recognition, I express my appreciation and gratitude for a job well done.
