N. Hincka drops 40 in Posen win; Mio boys rout Fairview

ROGERS CITY-Nick Hincka's 40 point game helped give Posen the edge over Rogers City on Thursday in a 64-44 victory.

"That might be a career high for him," head coach Matt Ponik said.

The first quarter was tight, with Posen up 13-12. The Vikings widened its lead to 30-20 at the half and took over in the third for a 45-34 spread going into the fourth.

"Both teams played really hard. It was a good Posen and Rogers City rival game with us coming out on top," Posen coach Matt Ponik said.

Besides Hincka's 40 points, Travis Sharpe hit nine and Leon Beccard hit eight.

Rogers City was led by Alex Hincka with 14 points while Quentin Kelley hit nine. Chris Lopez sank eight on the night while Alex Varga hit seven.

Posen hosts Hale on Monday.

Mio 63, Fairview 22

MIO-The Mio boys basketball team picked up a 63-22 win over Fairview on Wednesday night.

After the first period, Mio led 16-2. It extended its lead to 31-11 by the half. The Thunderbolts didn't look back as it pulled ahead to 50-18 by the end of the third.

Seth Thomey led Mio with 17 points while Ben Lubitz chipped in 16. Charles Auten hit 15.

Hudson Szubelak led Fairview with 17 points.

Alcona 50, AuGres 38

AUGRES-The Alcona boys rebounded from this week's Atlanta loss by taking out AuGres 50-38.

Trento Lavergne paced Alcona with 21 points while Carson Jamieson kicked in 17 points and nine rebounds.

Alcona faces Tawas tonight.

Girl's basketball

Tawas 67,

Whittemore 32

WHITTEMORE-The Tawas girls picked up another win on Thursday, taking out Whittemore-Prescott 67-32.

Tawas took a 26-4 lead in the first and widened the spread to 37-16. Whittemore was held to two points in the third as Tawas took a 53-18 lead before the final quarter.

Tawas (2-1) was led by Jenna Szostak at the board with 18 points. Belle Flory hit 14 while Haley Chapleski was good for 12.

Whittemore's Emily Lange led with 13 while Erika Rogels hit 10.

Tawas has the weekend off, but travels to Alcona on Monday.
