ROGERS CITY - A Hawks man accused of multiple acts of criminal sexual conduct likely will go to trial in a bid to prove his innocence, according to his attorney.

Jeremiah Allen Dewey, 35, has seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in three cases pending against him. Two in 53rd Circuit Court involve the same alleged victim at different ages, and a third is in 89th District Court involving a different alleged victim. Dewey is accused of penetrating one girl younger than 13, and again with his fingers when she was older. He's also accused of penetrating another girl under the age of 13 with his fingers.

Court files state the first alleged victim is a member of Dewey's household.

Dewey maintains his innocence, attorney Patrick Crowley said, and on Monday Dewey pleaded not guilty in circuit court for one of them. A district court judge has requested legal briefs on the case involving the second girl, and Crowley asked Circuit Court Judge Scott Pavlich for time to see how that case will proceed. Pavlich agreed, and Dewey will be back in court on Jan. 27.

Dewey is being held in the Presque Isle County Jail on $100,000 bond, according to court files.

Presque Isle County Prosecutor Richard Steiger declined to comment on Dewey's cases at this point.
