HILLMAN - Brush Creek Mill will have its annual children's Christmas Party on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a special appearance by Santa. Admission to the Christmas party is free, and there will be a variety of activities available for the children.
"We have cookie decorating, gifts for the children and ornaments," mill director Edith Lennox said. "Each child gets a book of their choice, and games will be going on with prizes."
Lennox said six years ago when the party started, they had around 40 children attend, and last year over 180 children came to join in the fun.
"We send invitiations to schools to let the parents know when the party is, and everyone is welcome to attend," Lennox said. "When the children first visit Santa, they get their picture taken. It's a fun time for everyone."
On Sunday, the mill will have it's annual commemorative tree lighting from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. with the various themed decorated Christmas trees and a memorial ceremony for the memorial ornaments.
"We have a program with Christmas music set up for the lighting," Lennox said. "The names of the people to be remembered or honored are read out loud, and different colored bulbs on the tree represent different people, organizations or military members."
Rememberance and honor bulbs can still be purchased at the mill for $5 each. Treats will be provided for those who attend.
