OSCODA-The Alcona volleyball team played some of its best volleyball at the right time on Monday, defeating Oscoda in five sets during a Class C district quarterfinal at Oscoda.
Alcona won 18-25, 25-9, 25-12, 18-25 and 19-17.
The win moves Alcona to a district semifinal matchup against Mio at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Oscoda.
The victory also came as a bit of redemption for the Tigers who lost to Oscoda on Saturday during the North Star League Tournament.
"It was quite a battle," Alcona coach Kristi Arnold said. "They've been working so hard the last few weeks and they played great team ball tonight."
Karina Cole led Alcona with 15 kills and four blocks. Sam Zerst had 12 digs and Sierra Forsythe had five aces.
