Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Michigan will host its second Raise the Roof fundraiser concert this Saturday in the Alpena High School Auditorium. The concert begins at 7 p.m., with doors to open at 6 p.m.
Musical performers will include Ashley Timmreck; Ed Dowling, Greg Altman and friends; and Joe Brisson and Easy Street. They will provide a variety of different styles of music.
The evening also will feature a silent auction, raffle items and refreshments. Among the silent auction items are a pair of tickets to the elk viewing sleigh ride at Thunder Bay Resort in Hillman, a pair of Tiger tickets and a Boliva mantle clock.
Admission is free but with donations accepted. Proceeds will stay in Alpena and Alcona counties to build Habitat for Humanity houses. The previous Raise the Roof fundraiser, held two years ago, raised $2,000 for Habitat.
"We are looking forward to a successful evening of family entertainment with the hopes of continuing our mission of building affordable houses," said volunteer Susan Bowen, who chairs the agency's resource development committee.
Habitat currently is in the process of hiring a new executive director to replace Mike Wilson, the previous executive who left the agency in January for another job opportunity in the area.
Habitat also is looking for new partner families interested in owning a Habitat for Humanity home. Anyone wanting additional information about the program and what is involved should contact the Habitat office at 356-3509.
