I have a number of friends on the East Grand Lake Volunteer Fire Department. I have always felt great comfort in knowing level of training required of them and that their response time is within five minutes of a 911 call. I know the level of personal commitment that is required of the people who serve and that it is a burden on their personal lives. After all, they are volunteers; they are not paid to serve. They are required by law to attend classes and maintain certifications just as paid professional emergency personnel.
My husband had been diagnosed with diabetes and was fighting with disabilities the last few years. The department was called to my home a number of times. The final call came a couple of months ago. They were there to care for the big guy as well as they were for me. I would just like express my gratitude for all that you have done for me and my family in recent years and for your commitment to the community.
I hope that everyone on the east side of Grand Lake knows that the Volunteer Fire Department is one of the best anyone could hope for. They all maintain professional certification and share a deep and caring commitment for our community. We are very lucky to have them.
We are very proud of you. We are able to sleep better at night, knowing that you are there.
