ALPENA - The Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District reviewed the Michigan Department of Education MEAP scores during its Thursday board meeting, comparing area schools scores to state scores. Gary Goren, general education director, said the AMA ESD as a whole mirrored state scores.
"State scores in math, reading, and writing were higher. In general, state scores have improved," Goren said.
However, Goren said, social studies and science scores remained consistent to last years scores. The lowest scores are in fifth grade science and the highest state scores are in reading.
"The AMA ESD, as a whole, generally duplicated this pattern, we generally mirrored the state scores," he said.
