The Alpena Convention and Visitors Bureau's board of directors made a good selection in choosing Mary Beth Stutzman as its new director.
Stutzman will replace long-time Director Deb Pardike.
As tourism becomes more and more a prevalent part of Alpena's economic base, the CVB director's position becomes all the more important as well. Stutzman's knowledge of the region, her background and her enthusiasm make her an ideal selection.
A regular columnist with The Alpena News, her "Inspiring A-Town" pieces offer encouragement to readers as they highlight all the attributes of the region we call home.
When she began her column with us back in July 2011, we wrote this about her: "Some of us going through life dreaming of 'what if.' Others of us go through life thinking 'what's next.' For Alpena resident Mary Beth Stutzman, what's next is a philosophy, a partnership and a community-building crusade she calls 'Inspiring A-Town.' It is her desire to inspire others to join with her and promote Alpena's strengths and work toward improving Alpena's blemishes."
Without doubt she is the right person to move the CVB forward.
Alpena, and all of Northeast Michigan, has a lot to offer and with Stutzman leading the charge, we're confident all of us will know about it.
