Time for Ten Commandments back in school

December 28, 2012
The Alpena News

Some will say that guns murdered the children in Connecticut. But it was clearly evil that slaughtered the innocent children. It was not the first time.

We read in Exodus 1:22 "So Pharaoh command all his people saying, 'Every son who is born, you shall cast into the river,'" And we read in Matthew 2:16 of the "massacre of the innocents." "Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and he...put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem... from two years old and under."

Let's restore to the Public School curriculum the Book of Exodus, and teach the Ten Commandments to our children, starting with "Thou shall not murder." Because a minority of people want to exclude any mention of God in our schools, we cannot teach the Ten Commandments, upon which the laws of this land are founded.

Why are the majority of people silent? Why don't we allow any mention of God in our schools? People as, "Where was God on that day?" Despite the fact our schools have expelled Him, God was there, comforting the terrorized children and adults. He was there weeping with them.

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in..." (Revolation 3:20). Unlike the murderer of these children, God does not force His way in. He stands and waits. Let's invite God back into our schools full time, not just when a tragedy happens. Let's teach children right from wrong in the belief that they will choose right. Maybe our schools will once again be safe havens for our children, as they were in the 1950s, when I attended school.
