Third person arrested for home invastion in township last week

December 14, 2012
The Alpena News

A third person was arrested Thursday in connection with a home invasion that happened last week in Alpena Township.

Detectives from the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team were requested by the Michigan State Police Alpena Post to assist them in locating a 24-year-old Spruce man wanted on charges of home invasion. The man had been identified as being the third suspect in a home invasion that occurred in Alpena Township on Dec. 7, in which a 73-year-old woman had been assaulted during the crime.

Detectives were able to locate the man and learned he was en route to conduct a narcotics transaction in the parking lot of a business in Ossineke. Upon seeing the man arrive at the business, HUNT detectives, with the assistance of troopers from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post, attempted to arrest him. Seeing the detectives and troopers approaching him, the man swallowed the narcotics he was intending to deliver before the officers could reach him.

The man was lodged in the Alpena County Jail on charges of home invasion 1st degree, and possesion with intent to deliver (morphine).

Alpena residents are encouraged to report any illegal narcotics activity by contacting the HUNT website at www.huntteam.com or by calling 1-800-573-DRUG.
