Posen wins 35th straight league game

MIO-Four players scored in double figures and the Posen girls basketball team earned its 35th straight North Star League win with a 62-34 victory over Mio on Friday.

Korynn Hincka scored 21 points for the Vikings (2-0, 1-0 NSL) who led 15-8 after one quarter, 29-18 at the half and 46-26 after three quarters.

Anna Couture added 11 points for Posen and Jenna Hincka and Bev Bednarski each had 10.

"We missed some easy shots (in the first half)," Posen coach Karl Momrik said. "We took better care of our shot selection (in the second half)."

Shelby Satkowiak and Jalen DeFlorio each had nine points for Mio (0-2).

The Vikings will play Wednesday at Cedarville.

Mio's JV team beat Posen 32-16.

Au Gres 51,

Fairview 42

FAIRVIEW-Cassidy Boesch scored 28 points and the Au Gres girls basketball team defeated Fairview 51-42 in a North Star League game on Friday.

Boesch led the way for the Wolverines, who got to the free-throw line 26 times, compared to 12 times for the Eagles (0-2).

"She's going to be the real deal. She's got good hands and she moves well," Fairview coach Marc Winton said of Boesch.

Logan Winton led Fairview with 19 points and Johnna Weidbrauk scored 16 points.
