In regards to the letter from Susan Tessmer on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012:
It has been a year of difficult firsts for the Mousseau family, especially our parents. They made it through Thanksgiving, with great difficulty, only to see a letter to the editor in the following Saturday's edition of the Alpena newspaper. The Christmas holiday approaching will be very difficult as well, followed by the anniversary of Jeff's death in January.
We can empathize with you because we are all parents. If you need to believe what your son has told you, we understand. The evidence and testimony has spoken volumes in this tragic event and we see no reason to continue publishing reminders for the family to view. Your son will return to you in time, Jeff will never come back to us, we visit him at the cemetery; therefore we feel the timing and content of your letter was cold and heartless.
We ask that this matter be put to rest with Jeff, to allow our family to grieve and move on.
