Committee looks for help in cancer battle

November 16, 2012
The Alpena News

As a 9 year cancer survivor, I am proud to live in a town that is committed to the fight against cancer. With the support of many individuals and businesses, our community raised over $127,000 in August at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

In addition to this, 147 people from our community enrolled in the Cancer Prevention Study 3 at the Relay. This important study, involving 300,000 people across the United States, will help us to better understand how lifestyle plays a role in cancer. Together, Alpena is making a difference

The Relay For Life of Alpena County has continued to grow each year and the planning committee needs to also grow at the same pace. Anyone interested in learning more about opportunities to volunteer for Relay For Life, please contact Molly Paquin, Community Representative at molly.paquin@cancer.org or 231-268-3344. A planning meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 19, at 5:30 p.m.
