Dragonfly Art Gallery in Harrisville will host a reception for pottery artist Ann Krueger as part of its Artist of the Month series. The event is set for Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the gallery, located at 116 E. Main.
Krueger's interest in design and color came early. During her childhood she began experimenting with a variety of woodshop and art tools, including a pottery wheel.
"As long as I can remember I had a love of tools and a curiosity about them," Krueger said. "This led to researching and exploring nature and museums, experimenting with tools and materials, and designing and creating functional items."
She continued to learn about technique, color and design at Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University and Schoolcraft College. She has previously displayed her pottery in several shows in southeastern Michigan.
After devoting many years to the education of children with special needs, Krueger she has found the time to get back to drawing, painting and especially creating functional pottery.
"I continue to research, experiment and create in Northern Michigan in the natural setting of lakes and forests I love," she said.
Krueger is the Artist of the Month for November.
