Melissa Pettit and Andrew Lappan were married on July 7, 2012 at the home of Tom and Mary Lappan. The double-ring ceremony was performed by Aaron Bruski, friend of the bride and groom.

The bride is the daughter of the late Francis Pettit of Alpena. The groom is the son of Tom and Mary Lappan of Alpena, and Jack Guy and Mary Helen Lappan of Harrisville.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Ann Lappan. The bridal party included Jenya Panova, Remi Charoth, Katie Young, Cristie VanMassenhove, Leslie Skiba and Lana Aylesworth. Attending the groom as best man was Greg Skiba. Groomsmen included Jon Carr, Michael Zigmont Sysak, Dustin Crittenden, Travis Torsch, and Michael Baumgartner. Serving as ring bearer was Davis Crittenden and flower girls were Alexis Crittenden and Vivian Furtaw.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the newlyweds at Art in the Loft located in The Center Building in downtown Alpena. Pre-nuptial parties included a family dinner at The Cellar, and a rehearsal dinner at the home of Tom and Mary Lappan.

Melissa is a 2000 graduate of Alpena High School, a 2006 graduate of Saginaw Valley State University, and a 2009 graduate of Central Michigan University with a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. She is employed by Alpena Public Schools. Andrew is a 1997 graduate of Alpena High School and is employed by Lappan Agency.
