Fourteen young women from throughout Northeast Michigan competed Saturday evening in the Miss Sunrise Side Scholarship Pageant.
At the end of the night, Alexandra Kramer of Lincoln was named the 2012 Miss Sunrise Side. She received a $2,000 cash scholarship and a $4,000 Alpena Community College Scholarship sponsored by the ACC Foundation.
Kramer is the 18-year-old daughter of Paul and Ann Kramer. She will compete for the title of Miss Michigan in June 2013, as Miss Sunrise Side is a local preliminary competition to Miss America.
Kramer, who chosen at the Miss Sunrise Side Teen winner in 2009, also was awarded the Talent Award for her flute solo and the Community Service Award. Both came with a $100 cash scholarship.
Kaylee LaFave of Harrisville was the first runner-up and received a $700 cash scholarship. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Darryl and Hope LaFave.
April Miller of Hawks was the second runner-up and received a $300 cash scholarship. She is the 19-year-old daughter of John and Karen Miller. She also received the People's Choice Award and the Spirit Award.
Miss Sunrise Side Teen 2012 is Caitlin Borke of Hubbard Lake. She received a $150 cash scholarship. The 16-year-old daughter of Ron and Lynn Borke, also was awarded the Talent Award for her vocal and piano solo.
Emily Hansen, the 15-year-old daughter of Jessica Hansen of Alpena, was the first runner-up and received a $100 cash scholarship.
Alayna Nugent, the 13-year-old daughter of Brad and Laurie Nugent of Lachine, was the second runner-up and received a $50 cash scholarship, along with the People's Choice Award.
Elizabeth Mulka of Posen received the Spirit Award.
