BISMARCK TOWNSHIP - A Hawks woman is accused of neglecting about three dozen animals, including about 30 horses, after Presque Isle County sheriff's deputies found them near her property, according to a press release.

The sheriff department responded Wednesday to a call of several horses running at large in a Bismarck Township field, near the property of Christine Thompson, 33, according to the release. As the animals' owner, she's been charged with multiple counts of animal abuse or neglect after deputies found about thirty horses, three dogs and three pigs near her property, all in various stages of neglect.

The animals are being removed to another, unspecified, location and are being evaluated by an Alpena area veterinary, according to the release.

Presque Isle County District Court files show Thompson is set to be arraigned on Nov. 20 at 10 a.m., according to Kristy Hardies, court administrator.
