The Alpena News

The Alpena Community College Cross Country team finished its inaugural season Saturday at the NJCAA Region XII Championships held in Lansing. The Lumberjacks finished ninth overall in the region.

"For a first year team to beat some pretty experienced teams says a lot about who we are as a program. The foundation has been laid for the future. I couldn't ask for eight finer ladies and gentlemen to model the way. Both ACC and the community of Alpena have a lot to be proud of" said ACC Cross Country Coach Mark Jacobs.

Jared LaBarge (26:49) led the Lumberjacks in the 8k race with a 14th place finish. Travis LaCross (28:03) followed with a 37th place finish. Rounding out the team were Jake Strong in 78th place, Andrew Sumerix in 79th place, Sean Berryman in 82nd place, and Kyle Urban placed 86th.
