On Nov. 6 City voters will decide if three City Council members should be recalled. Please consider that this will not bring Thad Taylor back and will only create added chaos at City Hall for many months and further delay the hiring of a permanent manager.
The threshold to recall elected officials should include illegal or unethical conduct. This recall seems to be driven by a different viewpoint and a "friends of Thad Taylor" mentality.
The language on the recall ballot states that these Councilmen "violated the open meetings act." This statement never had to be proven, is someone's opinion and from personal experience a false statement.
I admired Thad Taylor very much and was part of the Council that hired him as City Manager. Thad was an outstanding professional who was an excellent representative for our community. But since those days, the Council has three new faces and budgets are tighter every year. It doesn't seem that change is so surprising.
Instead of recalling anyone, when you have a different point of view, run against them in the next election.
