Vote yes on recall of mayor and councilmen

October 24, 2012
The Alpena News

Election Day draws near. The Alpena electorate has a clear, simple choice to make regarding Alpena's City Council, i.e. staying with what is or bringing in three new council people. That's it in a nutshell. We were given the term "new direction" as the reason Thad Taylor was dismissed. That term is as illustrative as mashed potatoes. No one is denying the fact that Council had the right to do what it did. However, it's the motive and method behind the act. Just the fact that 60 percent of the current Council is facing recall should be a red flag to everyone. It is a huge, tedious, expensive proposition to bring elected officials to this point. It was not done on a wing and a prayer.

Vote yes on the recall if you want true transparency in government. Vote yes if you believe Mayor Waligora offered to rescind his vote after begging Thad Taylor to take his job back (documentation verified). Vote yes if you believe a neophyte made the biggest mistake of his political life and then went on to say he was comfortable with his decision after Mr. Taylor said he could not work with a split council. Vote yes if you believe Mr. Karschnick and Mr. Nunneley have a far different agenda than just a "new direction" because that direction is vague, ambiguous, and a cover story of epic proportion. A yes vote gives City voters the opportunity to voice its displeasure and angst because of what Waligora, Karschnick, and Nunneley attempted to foist upon them.

I support the recall. I worked with this Council (sans Waligora). I know these folks.

Oh what a wicked web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Vote yes to put the web-weavers out of business.
