SUTTONS BAY-The Alcona soccer team's season came to an end on Tuesday after the Tigers lost 4-1 to Hart in a Division 4 regional semifinal at Suttons Bay.
Marcos Moul had two goals for the Pirates (21-3), who led 2-1 at the half and will advance to Friday's regional final against Leland who defeated North Muskegon 4-3.
Jared Steiner scored Alcona's only goal, tying the game at one in the first half. Hart struck twice in the second half and scored its last goal on a penalty kick with five minutes left.
Steiner finished with 16 goals for the season and was a key piece of the offense for Alcona, which had its best finish since 2007 when it lost in a regional final.
"I thought it was a good season. I feel bad for our seniors," Alcona coach Tim Munro said. "We're looking forward to big things for next year."
VOLLEYBALL
Au Gres 3, Posen 2
AU GRES- The Posen volleyball team won the first two games in a North Star League volleyball match against Au Gres on Tuesday, but couldn't shut the door and dropped the final three games for a 3-2 loss, by scores of 25-19, 25-10, 22-25, 17-25, 9-15.
Danielle Rhode, Anna Couture, Kari Ataman, Mercedes Kowalski each had four aces for Posen (7-4 NSL, 15-13 overall). Ataman added two blocks, Korynn Hincka had nine kills and Austin Sharpe had three kills.
Posen travels to Onaway today for the Presque Isle Championships beginning at 5 p.m.
The Vikings' JV team won 2-1, beating Au Gres 27-25, 14-25 and 15-6.
