Doesn’t support recall; time for city to move on

October 19, 2012
The Alpena News

First off, I do not vote in the city election but I am a property owner. I am totally against the proposed Recall. There is no proof that the city council was at fault, met in secret, mislead the voters or were dishonest in their dealings with Thad Taylor. I was on a first name basis with Mr. Taylor and had full respect for him. In his contract with the city Mr. Taylor agreed to a clause that said he could be removed "without cause" by the council. Mr. Taylor asked for and received a closed hearing on his dismissal. If the council were now to discuss the reasons for his dismissal they would be in violation and would come under court proceedings.

I personally know Matt Waligora and truly believe he has the best interest of the city as the Mayor. You only have to talk with him for a short period on time to be assured of his dedication to a very demanding service to our city. I know a little about the other two under recall but the answer is not in recall but at the voting booth in a future election.

Recall only creates more wounds than it fixes. Let's heal not wound. Let's come together not split apart. Lets be proud of the volunteers that serve our city.
