ONAWAY-The No. 4 Onaway volleyball team captured its first-ever Ski Valley Conference title after a sweep of Mancelona on Tuesday at Onaway High School.
The Cardinals improved to 8-0 in conference play, beating the Ironmen 25-14, 25-8 and 25-11.
"To win a conference of this caliber, it's been a long time coming. We've finished second or third the past few seasons," Onaway coach Steve Watson said.
Mariah Ehrke had 13 kills and six digs for the Cardinals; Emily Estep had 27 assists, three kills, eight aces and five digs; Lexi Szymoniak added five kills, five aces and eight digs; Meagan Self chipped in with four kills and a block and Kallie Shimel had a pair of aces and six digs.
Onaway is 41-4-3 on the year and will host Cedarville on Monday.
