MUSKEGON-When all eight runners on a cross country team run career bests at the same meet, it is a good meet. When the same team improves career best times by a total of 17 minutes and 15 seconds, it is a great meet. That is exactly what the Alpena Community College cross country team did Friday at Muskegon Community College.
"After the Kirtland meet, I really challenged the team to step up to the next level of training. They not only took me up on my challenge, they blew it out of the water," said ACC coach Mark Jacobs. "They told me whatever I wanted them to do to improve, they were ready to get serious about it." "No one even flinches when I tell them we are going out for a 12 mile (hard) tempo run. They all understand that what you put into running is what you get out of it."
Jared LaBarge continued his impressive season and led ACC with a time of 26:10 in the 8K race. Following LaBarge was Travis LaCross (27:35), Sean Berryman (31:12), Jake Strong (31:28), Andrew Sumerix (32:01) and Kyle Urban (35:53)
Travis LaCross was one of eight Alpena Community College runners who ran a career best time at Muskegon Community College on Friday.
For the Ladies, Janell Timm ran the 5K course in 20:52, followed by Katie Brownell (24:07).
The Lumberjacks finish their season on Oct. 27th when they travel to Lansing to compete in the NJCAA Region XII Championships.
