CADILLAC-The Alpena High Wildcats travelled to Cadillac for the Vikings' homecoming contest in hopes of playing a spoiler.
The Vikings had other thoughts, taking a 40-0 win Friday night in Cadillac.
Junior quarterback Jalen Brooks spoiled the Wildcats' defensive effort in the opening moments of the first quarter and he did not let up until he had scored four touchdowns in the first half.
It only took the Vikings two plays to score as Brooks rushed both times, the second run resulting in a 45-yard touchdown run, giving Cadillac a quick 7-0 lead.
In the Wildcats' first possesion, they went three and out, giving the ball back to the Vikings who promptly put together a 13-play drive that resulted in Brooks plunging in from one yard out.
Tanner Derror got into the scoring column with a two-yard rush before Brooks took over the final two scores of the half on runs of 25 and 14 yards, which brought the score to 34-0 at halftime.
The best offense the Wildcats had came late in the first half as a result of a blocked 46-yard field goal attempt of Nick Paqet. The block came off the hands of Cade MaCarthur and Ryan Day picked up the live ball and returned it to the Vikings 30-yard line. The drive fizzled out on a fourth down pass play that was just off the finger tips of Kaleb Smith with seconds remaining in the first half.
Brooks made it a running clock with a 20-yard scamper midway through the third quarter.
Dylan Thrasher had six carries for 32 yards and Tyler DeCare had two receptions for 27 yards for Alpena.
The Wildcats (1-6) will return home next Friday to take on Petoskey.

Dietz added touchdown runs of 1 and 13 yards in the second quarter and sandwiched in between were 65, 37 and 33 yard scores from Hincka.
