Cheryl Mack’s class of sixth-graders at Thunder Bay Junior High cleaned and collected data at the Bay View Park beach Friday afternoon. Five of Mack’s classes participated in an adopt-a-beach program through Alliance for the Great Lakes organization. Transportation was funded through the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary B-WET grant, which helped offset costs to research Thunder Bay watershed. Each of Mack’s classes spent time at different beaches throughout the afternoon collecting water samples, measuring the current, and collecting other data. She said the classes will return to the beach in the spring to compare the collected data.
