Well, there he goes again. Dr. Dan is sharing his alternate view of reality at his visit to The News. First, Dr. Dan wants tax reform that is "a simpler, fairer tax code that makes it easier to do your taxes, makes it less complicated, and, you know, cheaper." The House Republican tax reform Dr. Dan voted for increases taxes more than $2,700 on families making less than $200,000 and gives people making more than $1,000,000 a $300,000 tax cut.
Dr. Dan goes on to say the Affordable Healthcare Act is increasing health care costs. This is an exaggeration. The law, which has yet to be implemented, has caused only a 1 percent increase in premiums. This increase is a result of the increased benefits the law requires:
Facts he ignores. The rest is due to rising health care costs as usual.
Finally, he blames the EPA for blocking a road an Upper Peninsula mining company wanted. In reality, the mining company is Kennecott. It is owned by Rio Tinto, the global mining conglomerate controlled by the Chinese. Kennecott proposed a road to Marquette county officials for hauling ore between their mine and their mill. The problem is it would be built through pristine protected wetlands with the county paying for a road that would only benefit Kennicott. And a majority of local residents objected. The EPA, DEQ and Army Corps of Engineers are dubious of the road's benefit to the public and claims of no impact to the environment. Coincidentally, the National Mining Association is one of Dr. Dan's top financial donors. Now you have the rest of the story.
