The Supreme Court ruling signified, to me, that our country is entering a state of decline. For two years, this administration argued incessantly for this health care law, stating that it was a penalty and not a tax. Now, the American taxpayer is left holding the bag. In fact, in their ruling, the Supreme Court could not even identify what type of tax this is. President Obama promised the last thing he would do, would be to raise taxes for the middle class but here we are, facing a tax hike that is sure to come over the next few years.
On a more fundamental level, the question of Congressional tax authority is another issue altogether. If the federal government can levy a tax on Americans for refusing to buy health insurance, what can't they tax? This health care ruling has set bad precedent for future generations of justices and Americans that will have to live with the poor decisions made by this administration. I am placing my full support behind Dr. Dan Benishek and his efforts to repeal this law in the hopes that Americans can have a brighter future.
