Travel the highways of this country and occasionally one still can come across communities where time seems to stand still, where memories of life years ago still can be experienced and where a handshake still speaks volumes.
Posen is one of those places.
It's one of those places where, if you're in a hurry you might think that if you blink twice you will have missed it. Should that be the case, then shame on you.
It's a town where the residents are "salt of the earth" type folks who understand the meaning of hard work, but also appreciate a chance to have fun.
And, some might argue, fun is what they do best.
Every September Posen's residents convert their community into one massive block party for the Posen Potato Festival. There is great food, exciting entertainment, lots of music and dancing and, one of the longest parades you'll ever experience.
For one weekend of the year, at least, everyone claims to be a resident of Posen as this happy hamlet becomes the center of the universe.
Lucky for us, this is that weekend.
Posen will be a polka paradise today and tomorrow.
The festival is a homecoming for young and old, so stop by and visit with friends and family.
You might arrive as a stranger, but guaranteed you'll leave as one of the family.
