On the morning of Aug. 9, 1947, Edward Piontkowski and Ginette Gogue exchanged wedding vows at St. Anne Catholic Church. The double-ring, bi-lingual ceremony was performed by the late Rev. Joseph Simon.
Their romance began in Mars-la-tour, France in 1945, at the end of Edward's 18 month long tour of duty in the European Theatre in General Patton's 3rd Army. Ginette arrived in America in July 1947, following a two-year, long distance romance. Prior to coming to America, Ginette completed her professional schooling with high honors at Academie de Coupe et de Couture in Nancy, France.
Edward and Ginette have two children, Laurie (Chuck) Kinyon of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jerry (Vicki) Piontkowski of Alpena.
They enjoyed a week long celebration with their daughter and son-in-law and friends from Cincinnati, at Brother's Bay on Long Lake, ending with a brief stay at the lake.
