ALPENA - Three individuals were honored for academic achievement during the Alpena Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees meeting where they were awarded 2012 Development Council Scholarships. Chair Eric Smith and Georgene Hildebrand, development council liason, presented the donors and scholarship recipients to the board during its meeting.
"This evening we are honored to award the 2012 ARMC Development Council Scholarships. On behalf of ARMC, we congratulate them and honor their academic achievements," Smith said.
Eric Hansen and Bethany Misel both received the William and Mary DesOrmeau Nursing Scholarships for $1,000 and the Frongillo Nursing Education Scholarships for $1,000. Graham Kannowski also was recognized during the meeting and was awarded the Gerald Kramer Memorial Scholarship for $500.
"In addition, we thank the generous individuals that offer these scholarships," Smith said.
Evelyn Purol-Glomski, representing Bill and Mary DesOrmeau, was thanked for the scholarships that have been funded since 2003 in the DesOrmeau name. Mickie Frongillo was recognized for funding two $1,000 scholarships for nursing education this year, and has volunteered over 28,000 hours at the hospital. June Kramer also was thanked by the board for establishing the Gerald Kramer Memorial Scholarship in memory of her husband.
Hildebrand thanked the donors for their generosity and encouraged recipients to remember the help they received and said she hopes the pattern of giving will continue in the future.
