I am continually impressed by Alpena's culture. With the children out of town and my shopping at Farmer's Market completed, I had the luxury of exploring the adult side of Alpena this past weekend. A walk along State Street informed me that the Thunder Bay Theatre at which my daughter and I had watched "Cats" will be soon be showing "Man of La Manch" and "Rent". In the Center Building, I experienced the new Thunder Bay Winery, and they accommodated my desire to have a glass of wine with my Fresh Palette lunch while people watching from a table in the front. (A fun afternoon that would have cost me ten times more in California!)
Later that evening (after going to church, lest you think me completely debauched), I was pleased to experience the newly reopened Fletcher's Brewery, which is already turning out fantastic brews. They're starting to serve food as well (which I hope includes some of the fabulous brats from Nowicki's Sausage Shoppe), and when I left I was greeted by music from across the river at The Cellar and further down the road from the Band Shell at the Boat Harbor.
