This is in response to the letter headlined "League of Women Voters, governor wrong" published in the Wednesday, Aug. 1, edition of the Alpena News. The letter included untruths, distortions, and irrelevancies. Voter suppression efforts including the Michigan bills referenced are nothing more than a revival of Jim Crow racism and attempts to disenfranchise voters more likely to vote for candidates who favor progress and concern for all their fellow human beings. America is awake and watching.
