ALPENA - During Tuesday's Alpena Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees meeting, James Florip, chair of the buildings and grounds committee, discussed the possibility of a $3.5 million project replacement that would include facility updates in the near future if the budget allows for it.
"It's a $3.5 million project replacement discussion. I'd imagine it's in the budget, but if not we won't be moving forward," Florip said.
Some of the facility updates in the infrastructure replacement project discussion included replacing an electrical switchboard, a fire pump, two air handling units, fire alarm system, and the boiler plant.
"It might come before the board as the year comes along," Florip said.
While the project is still being discussed, the committee did make a recommendation to modify the pain & procedures clinic, which was approved by the board and awarded to Robert Kenyon and Sons in the amount of $395,500.
The request was discussed and recommended by the committee after a state health department review. The clinic areas will be modified to meet current standards for exam, treatment and procedure rooms.
