New name for Faith & Hope Hospitality House

For over 11 years, the Faith & Hope Hospitality House has assisted Alpena Regional Medical Center patients and their family members with discounted rooms at local area motels. On Friday, during the organization's annual golf outing, the board announced a new name for their service.

"We are now Alpena Regional Hospitality Services," Doug Kreis, president of Alpena Regional Hospitality Services, said. "This new name reflections our strong partnership with Alpena Regional Medical Center and their patients and the expansion of our services."

In addition to offering discounted rooms at local area motels for families in need of a place to stay while receiving medical care at ARMC, Alpena Regional Hospitality Services is exploring the need for patient transportation.

"By expanding our services we will be able to offer transportation to all ARMC patients," Kreis said. "This could be for a patient seeing a physician, having a consultation, treatment, a test or therapy."

Over the last year, a feasibility study was conducted to explore the need for a hospitality house. While the demand for such a house was not noted at this time, a program with offers assistance to lodging and transportation was identified. ARHS hopes to offer transportation by January 2014.

The Alpena Regional Hospitality Services operating through donations and the funds raised through the annual golf outing.

"We appreciate those who have donated to the program over the years," Kreis said. "Our community continues to be gracious to those in need of assistance. All previously donated funds designated for the building project will continue to grow for the intended purpose."

Applications for lodging may be obtained at from any nursing station ARMC. To apply for financial assistance or for addition information, call 356-7314.

Alpena Regional Hospitality Services board members include Jacques Labo, Teresa Stoppa, Nancy Smithem, Kurt Brunner, Doug Kries, Myra Cross, Mike O'Brien and Tracy Niedzwiecki.
