I think that the city council should take a new look at the water meter situation since there is no binding contract. Was the city taken to dreamland by a good salesman? I can appreciate that, as I have been a salesman most of my life. Now that the city has "graciously" reduced its customers liability to $100 instead of $400, I think the city should "graciously" lower the liability of homeowners to $0.00.
If our previous City Manager came up with the $400 amount, I can see why he should have been shown the door. I bought my home within the last few years and have no idea how much the meter is off or when the last inside meter reading was done. Am I to be liable for 10 or more years of incorrect readings? I am sure the city has increased its rates over the years to compensate for the lower readings it claims it has.
Since we don't have a contract, we need to take a new look at this entire project.
